Weekly Intercessory Prayer

Our weekly intercessory prayer is held every saturday morning at 9:30 am in downtown area. Church members are welcomed to participate in this prayer gathering. If you know someone that needs prayer support, please inform our intercessory prayer team. You can either contact Sister Angeline or write down the request on prayer request form.

CORPORATE FASTING

Join our corporate fasting: "40 Days Fast from Negative Thinking" (March 23rd - April 30th). This fast from negative thinking is revolutionary approach to help us to conquer thought pattern, mentalities, or mindset many times defeat us from growing, believing God for His marvelous works, and also mentalities that limit our potentials and our obedience to the word of God. WORDS OF THE WEEK

The Bible says we should cast all our cares upon God for He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7). And that includes the care of what people think. We can only live our life to please God, and if that troubles some people, they need to take it up with Him.

Life goes too complicated when we try to please both God and people. We must be free to be what God wants us to be. And we don't have to compare ourselves to or compete with anyone (2 Corinthians 10:12). Jesus came to set people free in many ways, and this is one of them.

All God expects is that we try to be the absolute best we can be. He wants us to follow the desire He placed in each of us. The moment we doing that, we set ourselves to grow and to be productive in life.

“To thine own heart be true”, the old saying goes. It still remains a timely and relevant life lesson that all of us would do well to remember. When we veer off the course that our heart is advising us to follow, we can make our lives very difficult. Putting aside our own convictions and following what others think we should do will lead to an unfulfilled and empty existence.

Following your heart can simplify your life. There is nothing simple about ignoring the dreams and visions that God has given you and trying to force yourself to enjoy doing something you actually hate. You may think following your heart will be complicated, but the truth is, it is absolutely necessary if you ever intend to enjoy a simple life of obedience to God.

AMAZING FACT

In the extreme temperatures and near-vacuum of interplanetary space, astronauts need special clothing in order to survive. Their spacesuits supply them with oxygen, keep their bodies at controlled temperatures, remove moisture from the air around them, and monitor their blood pressure and heart rhythm.

When Neil Armstrong went on the Apollo 11 mission that sealed his place in history as the first man to land on the moon, his suit was specially designed to provide a life-sustaining environment during periods of heavy spacecraft operation. The custom-fitted spacesuit permitted maximum mobility and was designed to be worn with relative comfort for up to 115 hours outside the spacecraft or for 14 days in an unpressurized mode.

Astronauts must put an enormous amount of trust in their spacesuits. One said it was eerie to realize that while outside the space capsule, there was just one-quarter of an inch between him and eternity. Now that’s important clothing! Notice how the Bible says, “Put on Christ.” He is our righteousness and only in Him we move, breath and live.

NEW PROGRAM IN 2009!

Chicago City Blessing Church is launching new program called "Creative Fellowship". This program is designed to help members to get to know each other better, to provide encouragements, to create ways for all members to get involved, and to learn minister to others in more creative ways according to their unique gifts. This program will be held every last Sunday of each month after church service. Lunch will be served during this event. Each member is also encouraged to bring new friends to join our church every last Sunday of each month.

ARTICLE OF THE WEEK

Even though it’s not the same as being ignorant, you shouldn’t worry even in the midst of the storms in your life. God does not say, “Look around. Look real good. Make sure you have nothing to worry about, and then trust Me.” If you focus on whether or not you really have something to be afraid of, you’ll find what you’re looking for. If you’re looking for something to worry about, you’ll find it. The battle that people have with fear really doesn’t have much to do with whether or not worry exists.

It has everything to do with trust. Everybody, from children to adults, can worry about many things. It can be as a result of circumstances, the past or current experiences, the way you were brought up, or simply because of what people say about you. Do not let any of these things conform you. Instead, what does God say about worry? Don’t worry. What does God say about fear? Don’t be afraid. If you want to get a relief from worry, simply do this one thing: STOP IT! Jesus said, “Don’t worry. I am with you.”

Worry exists because there is the slight possibility that what you worry about will happen. If there was no possibility of it happening, then most of us wouldn’t be worried. But the problem is, it could happen! And that’s where we get in trouble. Don’t plague your mind with “what if” questions. Trust Him! “For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.” (1 Jn. 5:4-5, NIV)

During this time of global economic crisis, it is time to grow from little faith to great faith. A crisis, whether it’s individually or nationally, reveals our human weaknesses and prompts us to turn to God. When King David was afraid, he put his trust in the Lord. When the people of Israel were in the wilderness, they cried out to the Lord. Today, will you make the decision to trust your Heavenly Father? That’s the best we can do. When you are barraged with worry and fear, why don’t you say, “God, I have no idea what’s going on here, but I choose to trust You. I choose to believe that You’re guiding my steps, even though I feel completely lost. I choose to believe that You are good.”

Remember God’s promises to you. “You will go through the rain, the floods, and the winds. When you pass through the floods, they shall not overflow you, when you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned. Though you walk through the valley of the shadow of death, you will fear no evil; for I am with you.” Did you notice that all of God’s promises are able to bring you through all the storms of your life? So don’t quit in the middle of your storm. God is preparing you through the storms for a bigger purpose. Storms prepare you to be great. But don't be afraid, that great storm is proportional to make us even greater and stronger.

ARTICLE OF THE WEEK

There's an old hymn that goes like this: " I thank God for the mountains. I thank God for the valleys. I thank God for the storms He brought me through. For if I'be never had a problem, I'd never know that He could solve them. I'd never know what faith in God could do. Through it all, through it all. I've learned to trust in Jesus... I've learned to depend upon His word".

There are many powerful hymns and songs were birthed out of personal life experiences in the lives of men and women of God. they went through persecution and tough problems, but came out of them victoriously and with unwavering faith, what's the secret?

They clung to the word of God and at the same time they took time to worship Him with their hearts. That's the secret. We must understand worship and not just have the knowledge of the Word. Pharisees and the Scribes had a lot of knowledge about God, but did not recognize Jesus as the Son of God.

When we worship Him, Heaven hears us. And Heaven will respond to us. Our case is before Him. He is listening and He is acting on our behalf. We must not forget this, and don doubt it, because doubting is a waste of our God-given time.

Also when we worship, whether we sense it or not, there are reactions in the spirit realm. In the same way, when we declare God's truth's over ourselves, they will stick. They change the atmosphere and they change us. We are no longer the same, whether we are aware of it or not.

Friends, worry, fear, doubt, anxiety, stress, will make nearly impossible for us to hear God's voice. It's like putting in spiritual earplugs that keep us deaf and unaffected by the thing that should affect us the most. Those things break our compass, and as long as we listen to the whispers of negative voices in our heads that try to deceive us, we are lost.

But when we spend time in worship, our ears are open and we will be comforted by His presence and be confident in who God is. We will then be able to hear Him clearly and when we're hearing Him clearly, our destinies become visible, and we have hope once again. Don't miss worship, we must flow out of worship.

NEW YEAR'S ENCOURAGEMENT

This week is the first week of 2009, it is often this time of the year people make new year resolutions. Many start late, some never get started and some drop off after time. If you keep your resolution for change, congratulations. A number of people have become so use to knowing that they do not keep theirs that they actually give up making resolutions. These changes can take many forms, but in the Bible we could find encouragement to propel our self-esteem and confidence in a bright hope and future.

The first is from Jeremiah 29:11-13 which says, “I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” (12) Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me and I will listen to you. (13) You will seek me and find me when you seek me with ALL YOUR HEART.” Regardless of your circumstances today there is ALWAYS hope for those who trust in Him. We must merely seek Him with ‘All of our hearts’ and he will ALWAYS listen to you. This is true even though you don’t see Him.Isaiah 43:18-19 say, “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. (19) See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland to give drink to my people, whom I formed.”

2008 is history. Do learn from it, but live in 2009 and either one of two things can apply. 1) You may make a first-time commitment to God by asking Him into your life. 2) You may vow to renew or grow your relationship with Him. A final verse that we need to know can be found is one of the Gospels. Since it is the first week it is important for us to remember this: Matthew 6:33 says, “Seek First the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these thing will be given to you as well.” What better gift to give Him this year than your attention and focus as first priority every day? His promise if you do this is to provide your needs as well. There are 3 important points we should remember and do in 2009 if we want to see our lives increased and established:

Expect a bright hope and future by trusting our lives in His great love and faithfulness.
Expect something great and new things to happen in our lives, whether making a first-time commitment to Him or greater growth in our spiritual lives.
Expect awesome answers to our needs by putting Him first in our lives daily.

Creative Access works with mission agencies and businesses helping to find creative ways to bring the Gospel to restricted areas.

Global LEAD (Leadership Equipping And Development) Alliance addresses the huge need for Christ-like leaders in all areas of society. Global LEAD works with an international network of leadership development programs. This network cooperates to provide ongoing training for Christian leaders around the world. As these leaders gain new skills, understanding and knowledge, they impact businesses, families and societies.

CCBC COMPASSION MINISTRY

CCBC Compassion Ministry Team is now working on providing free individual tax preparation service to community in chicagoland area. If you want to know more and want to participate in this project, please contact Sister Delia Setiawan. Also this team now is gathering information from some local park districts on providing free ESL course to people who don't speak English.

SUNDAY CHURCH SERVICE (October 12th 2008)

Our church service on October 12th will be held at 4 pm (room: O'Hare Salon C). This coming Sunday we will be ministered by Rev. Raymond Mooi (from Malaysia).

Rev. Raymond Mooi is currently the Principal of The School of ACTS in Malaysia and the President of Acts Global Networking. He ministers as an international evangelist, having conducted miracle rallies throughout Asia, Europe and America. He also network with Morris Cellulo ministry conducting miracles rallies in Asia.Over the last 20 years Raymond has successfully broken open many cities in Asia for miracle rallies to be conducted, and has himself preached record-breaking miracle rallies that demonstrate God’s great love and compassion. In these rallies many mighty miracles of healing have brought large numbers of conversions everywhere. In 1994 Raymond Mooi founded The School of ACTS after receiving clear direction from God to start a training school that will help prepare, equip and train His people to effectively work the works of God in the world today. It is a inter-denominationa l school with members of the School Board consist of dynamic church leaders from different denominations. Such similar Schools of ACTS have also been established in the Philippines and in Indonesia (under ministry of Ps. Petrus Agung).

FRIDAY EVENING PRAYER

Friday corporate prayer meeting will be held October 24th. Prayer will be held at Ps. Rony's residence. Church activists are expected to come and join this prayer. Church members also invited to join this prayer.

COMPASSION MINISTRY

A Call to Ministry. Our Compassion ministry is in need of volunteers to help us in accessing or contacting community park districts that in need of free professional services (such as tax services, ESL, etc). Review Gift Definitions

The following three pages contain suggested definitions of the spiritual gifts.

Prophecy. The gift of prophecy is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the body of Christ to receive and communicate an immediate message of God to His people through a divinely-anointed utterance. I Cor. 12:10, 28 Eph. 4:11 – 14, Romans 12:6, Luke 7:26, Acts 15:32, Acts 21:9 – 11

Pastor. The gift of pastor is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the body of Christ to assume a long-term personal responsibility for the spiritual welfare of a group of believers. Eph. 4:11–14, I Timothy 3:1–7,John 10:1–18, I Peter 5:1–3

Teaching. The gift of teaching is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the body of Christ to communicate information relevant to the health and ministry of the body and its members in such a way that others will learn. I Cor. 12:28, Eph. 4:11– 14, Romans 12:7, Acts 18:24–28, Acts 12:20–21

Wisdom. The gift of wisdom is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the body of Christ to know the mind of the Holy Spirit in such a way as to receive insight into how given knowledge may best be applied to specific needs arising in the body of Christ. I Cor. 2:1–13, I Cor. 12:8, Acts 6:3, 10, James 1:5–6, II Peter 3:15,16

Knowledge. The gift of knowledge is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the body of Christ to discover, accumulate, analyze, and clarify information and ideas which are
pertinent to the well being of the body. I Cor. 2:14, I Cor. 12:8, Acts 5:1–11, Coloss. 2:2–3, II
Cor. 11:6

Exhortation. The gift of exhortation is the special ability that God gives to certain members of
the body of Christ to minister words of comfort, consolation, encouragement, and counsel to other members of the body in such a way that they feel helped and healed. Romans 12:8, I Timothy 4:13, Hebrews 10:25, Acts 14:22

Discerning of Spirits. The gift of discerning of spirits is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the body of Christ to know with assurance whether certain behavior purported to be of God is in reality divine, human, or satanic. I Cor. 12:10, Acts 5:1–11, Acts 16:16–18, I John 4:1–6, Matt. 16:21–23

Giving. The gift of giving is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the body of Christ to contribute their material resources to the work of the Lord with liberality and cheerfulness. Romans 12:8, II Cor. 8:1–7, II Cor. 9:2–8, Mark 12:41–44

Helps. The gift of helps is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the body of Christ to invest the talents they have in the life and ministry of other members of the body, with thus enabling those others to increase the effectiveness of their own spiritual gifts. I Cor. 12:28, Romans 16:1–2, Acts 9:36, Luke 8:2–3, Mark 15: 40–41

Mercy. The gift of mercy is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the body of Christ to feel genuine empathy and compassion for individuals (both Christian & non–Christian)who suffer distressing physical, mental, or emotional problems, and to translate that compassion into cheerfully done deeds which reflect Christ’s love and alleviate the suffering. Romans 12:8, Mark 9:41, Acts 16:33–34, Luke 10:33–35, Matt. 20:29–34, Matt. 25:34–40, Acts 11:28–30

Missionary. The gift of missionary is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the body of Christ to minister whatever other spiritual gifts they have in a second culture. I Cor.9:19–23, Acts 8:4, Acts 13:2–3, Acts 22:21, Romans 10:15

Evangelist. The gift of evangelist is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the body of Christ to share the gospel with unbelievers in such a way that men and women become Jesus’ disciples and responsible members of the body of Christ. Eph. 4:11–14, II Timothy 4:5, Acts 8:5–6, Acts 8:26–40, Acts 14:21, Acts 21:8

Hospitality. The gift of hospitality is the special ability that God gives to certain members of
the body of Christ to provide an open house and a warm welcome to those in need of food and
lodging. I Peter 4:9, Romans 12:9–13, Romans 16:23, Acts 16:14–15, Hebrews 13:1-2

Faith. The gift of faith is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the body of
Christ to discern with extraordinary confidence the will and purposes of God for His work. I Cor.
12:9, Acts 11:22–24, Acts 27:21–25, Hebrews 11, Romans 4:18–21

Leadership. The gift of leadership is the special ability that God gives to certain members of
the body of Christ to set goals in accordance with God’s purpose for the future and to
communicate these goals to others in such a way that they voluntarily and harmoniously work
together to accomplish these goals for the glory of God. I Timothy 5:17, Acts 7:10, Acts 15:7–11, Romans 12:8,Hebrews 13:17, Luke 9:51

Administration. The gift of administration is the special ability that God gives to certain
members of the body of Christ to understand clearly the immediate and long range goals of a
particular unit of the body of Christ and to devise and execute effective plans for the
accomplishment of those goals. I Cor. 12:28, Acts 6:1–7, Acts 27:11, Luke 14:28–30, Titus 1:5

Interpretation. The gift of interpretation is the special ability that God gives to certain

Voluntary Poverty. The gift of voluntary poverty is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the body of Christ to renounce material comfort and luxury and adopt a personal lifestyle equivalent to those living at the poverty level in a given society in order to serve God more effectively. I Cor. 13:1–3, Acts 2:44–45, Acts 4:34–37, II Cor. 6:10, II Cor. 8:9

Celibacy. The gift of celibacy is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the
body of Christ to remain single and enjoy it; to be unmarried and not suffer undue sexual

Intercession. The gift of Intercession is the special ability that God gives to certain members
of the body of Christ to pray for extended periods of time on a regular basis and see frequent
and specific answers to their prayers, to a degree much greater than that which is expected of
the average Christian. James 5:14–16, I Timothy 2:1–2, Coloss.1 :9–12, Coloss.4: 12–13, Acts

Exorcism. The gift of exorcism is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the
body of Christ to cast out demons and evil spirits. Matt.12:22–32, Luke 10:12–20, Acts 8:5–8Acts 16:16–18

Service. The gift of service is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the body
of Christ to identify the unmet needs involved in a task related to God’s work, and to make use
of available resources to meet those needs and to help accomplish the desired results. II Tim.

ACHIEVING FINANCIAL GOALS

The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty. Proverbs 21: 5

To "profit" simply means you still have money left after all your expenses are paid. We all like to be profitable, but why is it so hard to get there sometimes? Many of us seem to be perpetually behind financially. And when our troubles result from poor choices we've made, we may not know how to fix our situation or prevent it from happening again.

A case in point: An episode of a recent talk show featured a family that was about $80,000 in debt. They met with a financial counselor, refinanced their house and were able to take $50,000 from their house and pay off quite a bit of debt. Unfortunately, when they came back on the show a year later, they returned with an additional $37,000 on top of their original debt. The financial counselor said that based on these results, this family didn't really want to be debt free - they just wanted to relieve a little pressure. Once some of the pressure was relieved, they were "done" in their minds and went back to spending money.

This scenario plays out in so many people's lives. Yet, never anyone actually say, "I want to get out of debt - and after that I want to rack up more debt!" Sounds crazy, right?

One of the best remedies for financial stress and yo-yo budgeting is rooted in Proverbs 21: setting financial goals. With goals you are no longer wandering aimlessly but know where you are going and know exactly how far you have to go before arriving.

If you don't have any financial goals yet, you can set aside some time to pray about what goals you want to set and then sit down and write them out. When writing

down your financial goals it's a good idea to include specific time frames for reaching your goals. You may or may not meet those time frames, but at least you'll be able to see how you are doing along the way and adjust as necessary.

If you are married, goal-setting is a great opportunity to sit down with your spouse and communicate about your money and your future dreams and plans. You'll want to make sure you are on the same page or can at least arrive on the same page because if you and your spouse have different goals for the money you share, there will be trouble ahead.

Since everyone's financial situation is different, everyone's goals will be different too. As you pray about this, God will direct you to what areas of your finances need improvement, but to help you get started, consider these ideas:

Create an Emergency Fund: The first thing is creating emergency savings fund. This is important because it can help save you from going into debt when the unexpected occurs. Many Christians sadly assume that God will prevent any catastrophes from occurring in their finances and are very surprised when they do occur. God often gives us the means to set aside money now to take care of future needs. Proverbs 6:6-8 talks about how an ant stores up food in the summer so he will have enough food in the winter when the supply is non-existent.

Some experts suggest somewhere between 3-6 months of living expenses for your emergency fund. That can be quite the big of change, especially if you are struggling to pay your bills. If this is the case, start with a smaller amount, like 1 month or even 2 weeks. Something is better than nothing.

Eliminate (or at least reduce) debt: An ultimate goal should be to pay off all debt. For some, this might take only a few months, but for others it could be a longer and more painful process. If you have a smaller amount of debt, you can make separate goals to pay off specific accounts and an overall goal to be debt free. If you have a larger amount of debt, you might want to set some goals based on a certain percentage or amount of your total debt. For instance, one of your goals may be "We will pay our student loan debt down $5000 this year" or "We will pay off 50% of our current car loan by XX date." Reaching your smaller goals will help give you the motivation to continue onto the larger goals.

Save for a Large Purchase: Maybe you want to buy a car in the near future. Instead of going out and obtaining a loan for a brand new one, maybe your goal can be to save up and pay cash for a car. If that goal is a little far-fetched for you, maybe you can save for a down payment of 25% or 50% of the purchase price.

Give More: For those already giving, set a goal to increase your giving by a certain amount or a higher percentage of your income.

If you aren't currently giving, make a goal to start your giving. Even it may seem like a small amount, but it can make a difference.

Increase Your Net Worth: Your financial net worth is your bottom line for your finances. For those who don't know, your net worth is how much you have in assets minus how much you owe - giving you the amount you really own. If you owe more money that you have in assets, you have a negative net worth. If you have more than you owe, you have a positive net worth.

Setting a goal to increase your net worth can help you stay focused on your bottom line. For instance if you pay off one bill but take out more debt somewhere else, that affects your net worth. If you have a negative net worth, you can set a goal to at least get in the positive. If you already have a positive net worth, set a realistic goal of where you want to be in a year or two or five.

REVIEWING YOUR FINANCIAL GOALS

For all your goals, review them regularly. You can post them on your refrigerator, in your PDA, or wherever is easiest and most convenient for you. When you see your goals often, you are reminded of why you are being disciplined and what your future reward is. And don't worry about choosing the perfect goal. At your goal date you may be just shy or way ahead of your goal. The point is that you are moving in the right direction and you'll eventually get there. Just remember Proverbs 16:3: "Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed."

PRODUCTIVE LIFE

Have you ever wondered why some people are able to accomplish so much with their lives? What makes them so productive? These days people are very conscious of productivity at all levels. Once a month the government releases a report on the gross national product. It tells us how productive the business and industrials have been. It is an important picture of the national economic health.

Suppose each of us were issued an “individual productivity report” each month. How would ours look? Would it show positive or negative results? Positive or negative? And what do you want to do so that at the end of your life you will be able to say, “I led a productive life. I accomplished what I set out to accomplish?” Have you ever defined what you consider to be a productive life? And more important, do you know God’s definition of a productive, fruitful life? And what does it mean to be a fruitful Christian?

The word “fruit” is used 66 times in New Testament. in John 15:8, Jesus says, “This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples”. The proof that you are a disciple is that you bear fruit. He wants us to be fruitful (productive). Let’s take a look at 3 conditions for fruitfulness that are described in the Bible.

Cultivate Roots - If we want to be fruitful, we must cultivate some roots. Without roots there will be no fruits! Roots are the lifeline of nourishment for the entire plant or tree. Consider a banana tree. It is almost indestructible. You can chop it into pieces, but it will grow back. You can burn it down, but it will grow back. There’s only one way to get rid of a banana tree, that is by uprooting it. The roots are the key to the fruit. In our life, how do we cultivate our root? Psalms 1:2-3 talks about cultivating our root, that is by meditating and studying the word of God. This is how we develop strong spiritual roots that will enable us to produce good fruits.
Eliminate weeds - Weeds can cause fruits never ripens. What are the weed in your life? Weeds are the concerns and interests that sap our time, energy, and money and prevent you from bearing spiritual fruits. Jesus in Luke 8 mentioned 3 kinds of weeds: Weeds of worry, weeds or riches, and weeds of pleasure. These weeds can choke out our spiritual growth and make our priorities of life out of balance. So it’s important for us to eliminate weeds.
Cooperate with God - If you are going to be fruitful Christian, you must cooperate with God’s pruning in your life. Pruning involves cutting off the dead branches and cutting back the living branches both to shape tree to stimulate growth. Most of us think that when God prunes, he cuts off the sinful and the superficial, the deadwood in our lives. He does do that, but also he cuts off stuff that is alive and successful: a good business, satisfying relationship, or even good health. Some of that may get whacked off for greater fruitfulness. He also cuts good things too, in order to make us healthier. It is not always pleasant, but pruning is absolutely essential for spiritual growth.

Friends, God knows what He is doing, and He wants what is best for us. When you follow His process, the harvest and fruits are inevitable.

God never intended for us to love a mediocre. You are designed for excellence and you are unique.

Everybody wants to be recognized. In fact, not only do we want to be recognized, but we need recognition, for the sake of our own emotional health and image. And most of us have a need in our lives to be different, to be excellent, and to stand out from everybody else.

1 Chronicles 4:9-10 tells us about a man named Jabez. The first nine chapters of the book consists of genealogies, with a listing of names. Right in the middle of those 600 names, God singled out one man for special recognition, Jabez. Why did God single out this man?

The Bible says, “Jabez was more than honorable than his brothers”. His mother had named him, saying, “I gave birth to him in pain”. Jabez is the Hebrew word for “pain”.

He then prayed to God, “Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain”. And God granted his request.

The first secret is that Jabez had a great ambition. He said, “I want God to bless me. I want something big and want to do something significant with me life”. Friends you need a dream. If you don’t, you are drifting. When you stop dreaming, you lose direction. And when you stop setting goals, you stop growing.

God wants you to have a great ambition in life. He made you for a growth and He wants you to stretch and develop and dream.

The second secret that he learned is growing faith. Not only that he had a great ambition, but also had a growing faith. He had a deep trust and belief in God.

The bible gives us some interesting facts about Jabez. There’s no mention of him having any special ability or gift. It doesn’t say that he was wealthy or educated. He was simply common man with an uncommon faith.

So don’t worry about what else you don’t have if you do have faith! God loves to use ordinary people who believe in Him, who are willing to trust Him.

The third secret is Jabez’s prayer life. It was his simple prayer request that got him an honorable mention in the Bible. Lots of people pray without rising above average. What kind of prayer does God answer?

Jabez asked for power greater than his own to accomplish his dream. He prayed, “I want you to bless me”. In other words, he wants God’s power in his life.

The next thing he prayed was God’s presence in his life. “Let your hand be with me”. He realized that if he got more territory, it meant he would have more responsibility. He would have greater demands and more pressure, and he would really need God’s help in his life.

And the last one was God’s protection over his life. Because in those days, the more you had, the bigger you become the target of the enemy.

Friends, if you want to live above average, then have great ambition in life, get a growing faith in God, and establish genuine prayer life.

FINANCIAL VICTORY

We all have concerns about current nation’s unstable economic status. This troubled economy is causing increased financial worries and even fear for many believers. Perhaps we, or even someone we know has already felt the pinch of rising job losses, skyrocketing gas prices, and now even food prices.

People across this country are experiencing struggles to make ends meets and many of them are now in debt severely. When times get hard - especially financially; it is easy to go down wrong path.

During this difficult and challenging times, we should go back to the promise of God. That’s the only thing that can keep our hope alive. There is always good news in God’s promise and His words.

If you read Genesis 26, you will find story about God’s provision to Isaac. In the midst of famine, God spoke to Isaac and reminded him that it is God that’s able to keep him on the right path by reminding Isaac of the promises of prosperity made to His father. And when Isaac obeyed God and His plans with all his heart, God increased him 100-fold, during the famine!

Friends, God wants to remind all of us of God’s great promises today and give us something that will keep us in good condition according to His purpose and great plans.

We don’t have to be the victim of this economic turbulence and victim of lack. We serve a big God, the God of the abundance. And we should have confidence that our God is able to to provide and bless His people. And like Isaac, we can be blessings to others too; AMEN!

Do you remember the story of a widow in the book of 2 Kings? Because of her husband’s indebtedness, her sons were about to be taken away from her and made them slaves. Her situation was very critical and she was in complete financial ruin. But how did she prevail?

She was able to get out of her financial ruin situation by obeying God’s command and putting Him as top priority in life.

Friends, it is very important to acknowledge God if we want to receive His financial breakthrough, why? The book of Deuteronomy 8:18 tells us clearly about how to receive our financial breakthrough. That is by acknowledging God. It says, “You shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day”.

If you are experiencing financial issue in your life, it is the time right now to acknowledge God and His power upon your life. The following are the practical steps you can follow to financial victory:

Give to God first before paying your bills (bring your tithing and offering unto Him). “Honor the LORD by giving him your money and the first part of all your crops. Then you will have more grain and grapes than you will ever need." Proverbs 3:9-10

Are we neglecting our debts to continue satisfying our wants? Take care of your needs instead of your wants. Foolish spending can bring our financial house to ruins and block our blessings.

Are we planning and budgeting our financial spending? "Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. What is the first thing you will do? Won't you sit down and figure out how much it will cost and if you have enough money to pay for it? Otherwise, you will start building the tower, but not be able to finish. Then everyone who sees what is happening will laugh at you. They will say, "You started building, but could not finish the job." Luke 14:28-30.

Do we give to the poor? Do not expect your financial blessings to flow if you ignore those less fortunate than you.

Friends, God has given you the power to receive wealth! It is now the time to learn to truly live in His provision and release His abundant blessing for your life.

School of Dream

Message from City Blessing Apostle

We serve a big God who always give big dreams and visions. Any dream that we can accomplish by our own strength is not from God. History tells us that there were great men and women who were willing to dream big dreams and pay the price. Most people want to receive the prize without wanting to pay the price. If you want to be successful in your life, you must begin to enter the "School of Dreams."

People who do not have a dream or vision will have no direction or motivation in their lives. However, after one receives a dream, challenges will flock in. This is when one’s character is developed. Your character is developed not when everything is going your way, but when everything goes the opposite way.

"Character is that quality which causes you to be loyal to a commitment long after the excitement is gone.” (Mark Gorman)

After Joseph received a dream from God, his own brothers hated him. Then he received another dream, and his brothers hated him even more. Then they envied him, betrayed him, and sold him. After the “School of Dreams,” Joseph went through the “School of Testing” where his motives and character were tried. There’s enthusiasm of the moment, or you may go by the feeling of the moment, but it’s going to be character that’s going to keep you loyal to that commitment. When Joseph first received the dream, he was excited, but when he had to pay the price, the excitement began to wane. He had a choice to grow bitter or become better. Joseph chose the latter. You may have been wounded or disappointed in such a way that it cost you your dream. Now is your time to come back!

Four years ago, I remember watching the 2004 Olympics on television. It was held in Athens, the birthplace of the Olympic games. In the final event, the marathon, Vanderlei de Lima of Brazil was leading the race with just three miles to go. It was the strongest run of his career, and spectators were cheering him on. Suddenly, a crazy man burst onto the track and forcefully grabbed de Lima, pulling him into the crowd. Security personnel quickly wrestled the man away, and the shaken de Lima returned to the race lane. But, by then, he had lost his lead to Italy’s Stephano Baldini. While still regaining his composure, de Lima was passed by another runner, but he pressed on toward the goal. Baldini eventually captured the gold medal, and de Lima finished third, winning the bronze.

Professionally, it was his highest disappointment; but personally, it was an amazing achievement. Rarely in Olympic history has the third place finisher been more highly lauded, but everyone knew that Vanderlei de Lima was a winner because he did not quit. And so it is with you who has a dream from God. Difficulties will come, obstacles will block your path, and surprise attacks will threaten to put you out of the race -- but you must never give up!

"Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” (Phi.3:12-14)

8 DAYS OF PRAYER AND FASTING
We will have our 2nd “8 Days Prayer & Fasting” starting April 7th until April 17th (we fast only from Monday – Thursday).All church members are invited to participate in this fasting period. For 8 days we are committed to seeking God’s face through intense prayer and fasting; and expect God’s breakthrough, God’s revival, and personal growth.
The power of fasting as it relates to prayer is the spiritual “atomic bomb” that our Lord has given us to destroy the strongholds of evil and usher us in great revival and spiritual harvest around the world.

We will be praying during the weekdays only (Monday through Thursday) starting January 21st until 31st. Sign-up sheet is available at usher’s desk. Starting the first month of 2008, our church commits to pray for 48 hours in prayer asking the Lord to revive and renew our hearts.

FRIDAY PRAYER MEETING
At the end of our 8 days prayer chain, we will have Friday evening prayer meeting on February 1st at 7pm. Prayer will be held at Setyadi’s residence. All church activists and members are encouraged to come to this prayer meeting.

Direction to Fairfield Inn & Suite Chicago Lombard (November 25th, 2007)
From Chicago/OHare - ORD:

I-190 East toward Chicago (1.6mi),
Merge onto I-294 S exit 1D toward Indiana (6.7mi),
Merge onto Eisenhower Expressway I-290 West toward Rockford/US-20/IL-64 (6.2mi),
Merge onto I-355 South exit 7 toward Joliet (4.2mi),
Take the IL-64/North Avenue exit. Turn left.
You will see the hotel on the right hand side of North Avenue.

From Chicago/Midway - MDW:

Exit the Airport going North on Cicero Ave. or Central Ave.
Take I-55 South towards St. Louis (9.4 miles).
Get on I-294 North (5.7 miles). Take I-88 West (6.6 miles).
Get on I-355 North (5.5 miles) and exit on North Ave.
Turn right at exit, hotel located on SE corner of I-355 and North Ave.

All church members are strongly encouraged to join Care Group Meeting. Care Group is not only a place for fellowship but also for spiritual nourishments and discipleship processes where everybody can learn to minister to others and be part of great commission.
